Support Request: Migration to Server 2016

Description

We are needing to know if our current version of SiteRemote 3 is compatible with Server 2016. It is currently running on Server 2008 R2 with SiteKiosk Clients on version 9.2.3595.

Are there any known issues to stay away from or will we need to update to a newer version of SiteRemote, etc.?

I have been looking on the products page and there is no mention of what the most current version of Siteremote is. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

Windows Server 2016 is supported since SiteRemote 5.2.
So you need to update to the actual SiteRemote version is 6.1 if you want to run SiteRemote on Windows server 2016.

The information about which is the latest SiteRemote version for the installation on your own server you can find on this page where you also can request a download link:
https://www.provisio.com/en-US/Downloads/Download.aspx?ItemId=117

Further information about the SiteRemote versions we have published and what changes are made you can find on the version history page:
https://www.provisio.com/en-US/Downloads/VersionHistory.aspx?Product=SiteRemote

The information how to migrate the data from SR3 Server to the other Windows 2016 server with SiteRemote 6.x you can find at the last page of the installation brochure. The general update procedure is given on page 2:
https://www.provisio.com/Download/brochures/siteremote-server-install-en.pdf

Generally you should first stop the SiteRemote Server service on the old machine (so that no new data will be added) and then backup the “Teams” folder and the SiteRemoteBackEndServer Database (using the SQL Management Studio).
After restoring these data on the new Windows Server 2016 machine you can install SR6.1.

If using an external SQL DB server you even can point the SiteRemote installer to the same SQL instance by using the custom installation.

In case you plan to update Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2016 you should do the backup and uninstall SiteRemote 3.x (without deleting the database & SiteRemote data) before you do the migration and then install SiteRemote 6.1.

Further information about the installation & update installation you can find on page 2 of the installation brochure:
