Support Request: Unable to use Chrome browser. Just get the "safe" screen - Sitekiosk Crashes

Reproduction

To replicate this behaviour all I do is tell site kiosk to run once
then dismiss the dialogue box which says I havent done stuff with the bios etc. I managed to "catch" a window before i was locked out from doing anything other than sitting at the safe screen to find.

However...
if those windows explorer windows are closed the same behaviour happens but nothing is written to the log files.

Description

Whenever i try and use the google chrome browser I end up in a situation where i get the white screen with the "safe" in the back ground. Nothing loads despite a huge amount of disk activity.

The machine is rendered useless as it's locked out the ctrl + alt + delete combination so im not sure it's updating the log files completly.

If i use IE then everuthing is fine, it's just when using Chrome things start to go awol

To replicate this behaviour all I do is tell site kiosk to run once
then dismiss the dialogue box which says I havent done stuff with the bios etc. I managed to "catch" a window before i was locked out from doing anything other than sitting at the safe screen to find.

Hello,

Generally there is no known issue when using SiteKiosk 9.6 on supported operating systems:
https://www.provisio.com/en-GB/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?system_requirements.htm

Unfortunately the attached ZIP only contains an old configuration (Newport.skcfg) from SiteKiosk 7.8 with “IE Skin” in use.
The skin and also SiteKiosk 7.x are out of support.

Did you also check it with SiteKiosk 9.6 when creating a new / clean configuration where you just set the password and the start SiteKiosk in “Run once” mode?
Please send the actual SiteKiosk configuration you have used when the problem occurred via e-mail.
Also provide the information which operating you use and a screenshot of the installed applications (-->Control Panel-->Programs and Features).
E-Mail: support-europe(at)provisio.com

These log messages just state that the Windows & Dialogs management wasn’t able to close certain (external) windows.

Hello Michael,

Ive sent in an email to the email address provided.
I have also gone ahead and created a new profile as suggested and im still getting the same behaviour.

For reference using Windows 10 14393.1593

I'm not sure that the log files are updating properly as when the kiosk crashes and locks up im having to hard reset the PC to get access. I;ve now disabled the locking out of security keys to see fi I can capture more data.

Hello Mark,

I sent a reply via e-mail.

>>>I'm not sure that the log files are updating properly as when the kiosk crashes and locks up im having to hard reset the PC to get access<<<
You may also check the Windows Event logs (-->Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Event Viewer) in that case.
Look for warnings and errors around the time span the error occurred.
(I didn’t mention it in my e-mail).
