Support Request: Need assistance with Installation

Description

Hello,

We recently purchased the Server version of this software. I have attempted to install SiteRemote to no avail. We are using 2 servers, one with IIS and another for the database (SQL). We are placing them onto Windows 2008 servers with MS SQL 2008. In my first install, I could not get the webpages to load. There are other websites on this server. When I attempted to uninstall it, I had issues because it could not detect the databases that was created. I had to revert back to a snapshot to get it off (it is a VM). Please assist with the installation as the instructions do not go into details about configuring an App Pool or the websites.

Do you get any errors during the installation? What error do you see when the web page will not load when accessing it from IE on the server? What error did you get during the issue with uninstalling? Is there any additional information in the Windows Event log?

The description about how installing SiteRemote with an external DB is given on page 3 in the installation brochure:

The main key is that SQL authentication is activated and that the SQL user has the required access rights to the SQL instance. The SiteRemote DB will be created by the SiteRemote installer.

Aside from making sure to meet the system requirements, it is recommended to install SiteRemote Server on a dedicated server system that uses a default Windows Server installation and to not make any changes to the default policies of Windows.

Regarding using SiteRemote when having more than one website running in IIS.

By default SiteRemote installs the web pages into the default web site in IIS. There is nothing special you need to configure in IIS because everything will work out of the box then.

When you already have a web page running in the default web site of IIS you can create an additional web site in IIS before installing SiteRemote (this web site even has its own app pool etc.).

Then you can do a custom installation with pointing the SiteRemote installer to that web site.
SiteRemote uses port 80 (http) and 443 (https) by default.
The rest (if you need to change http and https bindings etc.) applies to the administration of IIS:.
