Support Request: File Explorer and Office

Description

I am attempting to use your product in a public setting by which users can view multiple powerpoints, videos, audio, and very limited browsing. All of the media would be stored locally on the computer that would be directly connected to the monitor. I am having a hard time in making a link to a local folder and/or link to a specific office file ( powerpoint, word doc, etc) from the start screen browser design. Ultimately, I want to make a tile that links to a file stored on the local computer. It is very easy to set up a tile for browsing and the like. But that is not what I need necessarily.

I want to be sure that Sitekiosk is the right solution for what I am trying to do.

Any thoughts?

The Start Screen is essentially a browser based customizable page so to open content from there you would need to embed it in html. Otherwise, you will need to allow the File Manager (>Basic >File Manager) and give the user access to a folder from which they can access the files and double-click them to open them normally in their respective applications.

Thank you for the reply.

I have enabled the file manager and added the path for the location (locally) where the file is stored.

How do I create a tile that accesses that location? For example, Do I create an HTML tile and then direct it from there or is there an easier way than that?

If you allow a task bar with start button, you can access the File Manager from there. Otherwise, you can create an html file to open the File Manager that is stored locally and link to that file from one of your tiles as in the following article.
