- Quick Start Dialog:
the SiteKiosk startup dialog has been completely revised and now offers a new quick start function, which you can adjust to fit your needs. - Touch screen Keyboards - hide/show dynamically

If you turn on the corresponding option, this tool will automatically send the last configuration as well as the last logfile and other information to PROVISIO's support server. - Set SiteKiosk as default browser
As of version 6.0, SiteKiosk will allow you to specify the SiteKiosk browser as the default application for displaying websites. The main benefit of this is that whenever other applications (e.g. Messenger) open an HTML link, this link will open directly in SiteKiosk rather than (as it used to be) in Internet Explorer (which was then suppressed by SiteKiosk). Provided you are using at least Wind2K SP3 or WinXP SP1, you will find the corresponding settings under "Start/Control Panel/Software/Set Program Access and Defaults." - New license keys in 6.0
Version 6.0 will accept all license keys issued starting from December 2003. License keys issued earlier than that can be enabled for use in Version 6 in exchange for a fee.

SiteKiosk 5.5.0
|
|
- System Security Manager:
the System Security Manager represents a new additional tool for use with Windows 2000 and XP. The System Security Manager assists you in creating a specific SiteKiosk user account which will be subject to certain user restrictions and can be implemented in Windows2000/XP. Thus, if you want to make sure that your terminal is protected 100% against any kind of manipulation, we definitely advice you to employ the Security Manager. - Download Manager:
we are also introducing a new download manager which will now let your users download and save files to specific locations. The download manager ensures that you will stay in control of all the downloads your users want to initiate. You can, for instance, define a download folder whose content will be deleted after a certain number of hours. - START button in task bar:
You will now also find a START button in SiteKiosk similar to the well-known START button of your Windows operating system. A click on this button will reveal only those applications that you specified in the configuration tool. - Small program icons in the taskbar:
Programs like Microsoft Messenger will solely appear in the notification area of the Windows taskbar (next to the system clock). Version 5.5 now supports the display of these programs in the SiteKiosk taskbar provided SiteKiosk replaced the system shell. - Charging for applications as well as video, photo, and voice e-mail messages:
prior to this version, it was rather difficult to charge your users for running applications. Now, version 5.5 lets you do exactly that: set up a charge for using applications. In addition to these usage charges, you can also define an individual fee for sending multimedia e-mails. - Special mouse support for touchscreen keyboards
A new setting option for touchscreen keyboards allows you to hide the mouse cursor in SiteKiosk. What is more, this option features a special highlight: whenever a user touches the screen, the mouse cursor will appear for about 1.5 seconds to let the user check her position. - SiteCash: cctalk interface for RS232 payment devices
Version 5.5 introduces a new SiteCash device for payment devices (coin acceptors and bill readers) supporting the interconnection protocol cctalk. At present, devices supporting this protocol can be obtained from Money Controls. - SiteCash: now supports PcCredit Card as well.
UK-based Brent Electronic have come up with a special card that can be installed between a variety of different coin acceptors / bill readers and your computer's COM port (RS232). The PCCredit Card connects to almost every coin acceptors available on the market today. - SiteCash: now supports even more bill readers
In addition to working together with Global Bill Acceptor and the APEX 5000 series, version 5.5 adds support for Mars Bill Validators (MEI) AE2600 series as well as the MATRIX series of HW Las Vegas. - SiteCash: SiteCafe Manager
The solution everybody has anxiously been waiting for is now finally here: SiteCafe manager! This device works in a completely different way than all other existing payment devices, for the SiteCafe Manager Program will be installed on a computer which is part of a LAN environment. The SiteCafe Manager will then make it possible for you to control, release, and administrate the clients. - SiteCash: new credit card gateways
We added two new credit card gateways in Version 5.5: I-Payment, who provide their services through their partners in almost every European country, and securetrading.com (UK), a gateway you can use for payment in British pounds. - Increased language support
New languages have been added in Version 5.5: Polish, Chinese (trad.), Chinese (Taiwan), Japanese, Turkish, Finnish, Ukrainian, and Portuguese. - SiteCash: Support for additional credit card readers
In addition to supporting generic ISO magnetic card readers (RS232), SiteCash now also works with: - Lock workstation when removable storage drives are attached
Users might use USB memory sticks or any other removable memory media to open up a security gap in SiteKiosk. This is why we integrated an option that will automatically lock up the workstation as soon as a user connects a removable storage drive to the USB port of your computer. - SiteCoach Content Filter
- We expanded the content filter list of SiteCoach once again by several thousand new URLs. Since the filtering list has, in the meantime, grown to several megabytes, we have stopped including it in the installation version. However, the list will still automatically be downloaded from our server as soon as SiteCoach is activated.
- SiteCoach now also supports proxy servers requiring authentication prior to accessing the Internet
- the content filter can now also be disabled for a certain period of time, e.g. during the time when minors are no longer admitted to your facility
- SiteCoach can now limit access to domains explicitly classified as allowed
- the filtering lists now fall into different categories and can be specified manually. This will make it possible for you to, for example, explicitly deny your users access to certain e-mail gateways or chat providers
- Screensaver: detection of game controller (joystick) input
Prior to version 5.5, SiteKiosk was unable to detect the use of game controllers in combination with, for example, DirectX games. As a result, the screensaver always came on after a certain period of time. This is why we implemented a new feature that will now check for any game controller input. - Additional configuration options in the .skcfg
You can now also redefine the allowed maximum number of new windows within the configuration file: 10 In addition, you can extend or limit the protocols allowed in SiteKiosk within the .skcfg file. This means, for example, that you will now be able to allow access to the TELNET protocol by entering . - additional inaccessible keyboard combinations (freely definable)
Some hardware components and drivers allow function calls through keyboard combinations. The new version of SiteKiosk now allows you to freely define multiple inaccessible keyboard combinations.

SiteKiosk 5.0.10
|
|
Here are just some highlights of the many improvements we made to the new SiteKiosk version 5.0: - Configuration Tool:
the ease of use and layout of the configuration tool have been improved. Configuration files are saved as .XML format. They can be modified very easily with most text editors. - SiteSkin Technology:
SiteSkin allows you to alter the behavior and, in particular, the layout of your browser interface in any possible way - The SiteKiosk browser is now entirely based on HTML/JavaScript and provides multilingual support. The design of the entire browser can be changed by pressing a certain button or accessing a certain URL.
- Multilanguage Support:
users can choose between different languages. All language-specific SiteKiosk components are displayed in the chosen language provided a corresponding translation is available. More languages can easily be added. - SiteKiosk Script Object Model:
the JavaScript instruction set has been extended with relevant objects, methods, events, and Active-X controls. Programmers can make use of extensive possibilities to control SiteKiosk and plug-ins in the way they desire. Please consult our SiteKiosk Object Model help file for more information. - SmartCard – Charging Device:
we added new features to our SmartCard solution that let you set up a charging device for SmartCards. Customers can use this charging device to charge their SmartCards without the assistance of service staff. - Installation now on MSI basis:
The entire installation process has been changed to Microsoft Installer which opens up many possibilities for the future. - SiteCash - New Devices:
Some of our partners have developed new payment devices, which we offer as installation versions: - EC Card Module (MAESTRO) – developed by Sycom.at.
This device has been developed especially for the banking industry. It ensures that bank customers and customers of associated banks are able to surf the Internet at bank-owned Internet terminals free of charge. Authorization is assured by the customer's EC card (matching routing numbers). Also, a maximum surfing time in minutes per customer and per day can be set. - Coinchecker – developed by Terminal Factory.
The company Terminal Factory has developed a coin acceptor interface solution for SiteKiosk. Coin acceptors of different companies like wh-Berlin, NRI, KWM, Microcoin, etc. can be connected to the parallel port. The SiteCash add-on installation file is available for free download on our website: http://www.sitekiosk.de/ - Surfing Area
– New Setting Options SiteKiosk now allows you to define the surfing area more specifically. Older SiteKiosk versions only let you allow OR block certain URLs. Now, you can allow AND block access to certain URLs in different scenarios. This | |
