Support Request: Screensaver Countdown Issues

Reproduction

See description above and attached configuration settings.

Description

We want to reset our kiosks quickly and reliably after a couple of minutes of inactivity. I am trying to do that with the screensaver feature but give users a warning if they are not ready to leave their session. I have the screensaver set, with the 15 second countdown timer turned on. When the countdown timer dialog starts, frequently after 1-2 seconds it will go away and start the inactivity check over again. If I had a 5 minute inactivity window, now it is effectively 10 minutes (or more if the 15 second countdown timer 'fails' again).

Another issue that I have is that if I have opened a web page in a new 'tab / window', when the countdown timer dialog opens, the secondary web page 'disappears' (as far as my users are concerned) and the start / home page gets focus. We want to use our kiosks for video training, and users may be watching videos in a new window for periods of time that would cause the inactivity countdown timer to kick in. When that happens, the video may still be playing but it no longer has the focus - the focus has shifted back to our start / home page. Is there a way to keep this from happening? I want the user to see the inactivity timer, touch the mouse and continue to watch their video with little interruption.

Let me know if you have any questions!
T.

Please confirm you are using the IE based browser in SiteKiosk as with the attached config?

>>>when the countdown timer dialog starts, frequently after 1-2 seconds it will go away and start the inactivity check over again<<<
The problems with the timer of the screen saver warning dialog seem to occur when using the Metro IE Skin (an IE based skin) + deactivating the option “Monitor input of game controllers (e.g. joysticks)” at “-->Screensaver-->Advanced”. Activate that option again to resolve this issue.

>>>Another issue that I have is that if I have opened a web page in a new 'tab / window', when the countdown timer dialog opens, the secondary web page 'disappears'<<<
This fix applies to the Metro IE Skin only!:
I will email you the script file. The script file (main.js) changes the parent setting for the warning dialog.
That makes sure that the last open window will not fall into the background.

Please note that with these changes the dialog will only work with IE based skins (not with Chrome Browser Skin anymore).

Put the file “main.js” into the folder “…\SiteKiosk\Assets” (you may rename the original file before).

Thank you for your response. Yes - I am using IE with the Metro skin. If you sent the updated javascript file, can you resend it to me at tmyers@kimray.com and zip the file? I am not seeing the file so if you sent it over, it is possible that it was caught in a filter etc. Thanks!

Spoke with Calvin Ward earlier and he sent the updated main.js file - that took care of the issue where the countdown timer showed up on the main browser window instead of the topmost / active window. Thanks!

After enabling the ScreenSaver | Advanced | "Monitor Input of game controllers..." setting it seems that we still have the same issue of the Countdown timer showing for about a second and then going away - resetting the screensaver timeout period. There is no rhyme or reason to when it will work or not. We can test it 10 times and a row with perfect results, then have it 'disappear' 2 or 3 times in a row.

Reattaching latest config files for your review.

One new issue - not sure if I should create a new ticket - but will include it here for now. When we try to watch 'training' videos on the kiosk, we can't open videos in Full Screen mode. The control is there on screen, but doesn't work. The site and the video with controls work fine in Internet Explorer 11 and Chrome on the computer outside of SiteKiosk.
