Support Request: Is there a way to delete files stored locally in documents after a user closes our browser based portal?

Description

We have two kiosks set up so that people can scan documents for our planning department.

The issue is, when a user logs off or closes the browser, the files are still stored in documents and the next user can access the previous user's documents.

These documents are automatically cleaned up at 4am every day, but ideally we would like them to be deleted when a user closes our browser-based portal so that the next user cannot see the .pdf files the previous user uploaded via scanner.

We've considered writing a batch file, but since it's a government building we are wary of allowing permissions for .cmd files to be used, especially since we also allow USB drives to upload plans.

Our portal is called CityView, and no event file is created upon closing the browser. This is something we are looking into.

If there is a way to do this built into Sitekiosk that we are not aware of, any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. SiteKiosk already had this built-in feature, but you need to turn on Downloads (in Start Page and Browser>>Customize (Chrome Browser)>>Downloads). After that, you go to Configuration>>Logout and turn on "Delete downloaded files". See sections 3 and 4 in link: https://www.sitekiosk.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?logout.htm

You can, for example, set the SiteKiosk user Documents folder as your downloads folder [C:\Users\SiteKiosk\Documents] and turn on the delete feature and then you don't need to set an additional folder to be deleted.

This logout feature is controlled by the Logout button in the browser toolbar or Start Screen interface or when the screensaver activates. You will not need to use any other additional programs to do this.

[Note: This user is referring to SiteKiosk Classic but in SiteKiosk Online, you do not need to allow Downloads and simply can configure similar settings at >Settings>Client>Logout. See more at: https://sitekiosk.online//help/en/Logout.html ]

Best regards,
Andre.
