I am sorry but SiteKiosk 9.6 is out of support.
Using your configuration file with the current SiteKiosk version 9.8 does not show any problems when using the search function of that page. Maybe the page does not support the old Chromium engine of SiteKiosk 9.6.

I tested the config file with version 9.8. But the site is not displayed and there is only the Sitekiosk logo on the screen.

as mentioned in the first response, your configuration works without problems when using it with SiteKiosk 9.8 without any changes required.

What you describe can happen, when you start SiteKiosk while using Windows Remote Desktop to connect to the kiosk system. Windows Remote Desktop requires the Windows shell which SiteKiosk wants to close, resulting in the described behaviour.
Antivirus applications or Window domain policies can also be the cause. Make sure to apply appropriate exceptions for SiteKiosk if necessary.

Indeed, I tested with a remote desktop connection. Luckily it works with a remote VNC connection.
