Support Request: White List

Description

Is there a way to only allow the web browser to use the items in the white list? Version 9.8 Build 5779.

Thank you,
Mike Riddell

Hello,

Thank you for the inquiry. You can add your Address List in Configuration>>Basic>>Surfing Area>>Address List as a "txt" or "csv" file. You can find more details here in Section 2 (Wild card usages in Section 1):
https://www.sitekiosk.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/surfing_area.htm

There are default settings you must keep in Surfing Area>>URLs/Paths. So, if you have any other additions below this line - file://$(SiteKioskPath)\SiteKioskNG\assets\* - , you can remove them by clicking the Delete button.

Your list must be placed in an accessible and protected folder. You can use this folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Xml

Best regards,
Andre.

I had edited the existing file located at C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\XML. It is called sample-allowed.txt. Do I need to change the name for it to work? The file looks like this:

http://www.provisio.com/*
http://www.sitekiosk.com/*
http://www.sitecaster.com/*
http://www.provisio.com/en-US/Company/Contact.aspx
https://www.novacu.com/*
https://www.netteller.com/login/2008/*.*
https://www.bitstatement.org/*.*
https://novacu.symapp.jhahosted.com/*.*

Does that look acceptable?

This is what I had done prior to opening the case and it allows users to go to other sites.

Thank you,
Mike

Hello,

Those are indeed correct. That default file can be used to your liking as it is already listed as "Granted" (allow access). As long as the wild card mask matches all of the possible weblink scenarios you expect the user to visit, then it should work. If while testing your links and you encounter additional issues, you are welcome to send your files for review to support-america(at)provisio.com:

Configuration - C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Config (*.skcfg files, ignore *.skcfg.local)
SiteKiosk Log files - C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Logfiles (yyyy-mm-dd.txt files)

Best regards,
Andre.
