Support Request: Main admin account completely locked out with SiteKiosk (white-combination-lock-image) Splash Screen on Stuck

Description

Hi,

The main Administrator account is completely locked out and unable to use the Password, Keyboard, ESC Key, Keyboard Combination or CTRL + ALT + DEL or do anything with the computer as the SiteKiosk Auto-Starts-up and Auto Logs In that Administrator on Start. Just get the SiteKiosk (white-combination-lock-image) Splash Screen on Stuck and that's it.

Thank you

Hello,

There are 3 specific cases where a problem like this (only the watchdog screen displays, but not the SiteKiosk Browser) may occur when starting SiteKiosk Classic Windows:

1. SiteKiosk was installed without the appropriate Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable (only happens if you use the MSI file instead of SiteKiosk9.exe)
2. If you have reactivated the Windows account "Administrator" (with the name Administrator) and start SiteKiosk in this account
3. You are connected via Windows Remote Desktop at that time:
Because: Windows RDP and SiteKiosk interfere with each other and SiteKiosk will not start in "Start once" mode. (you only see the Watchdog background when starting SiteKiosk in “Start once” mode).
The only workaround is using another remote desktop application OR activating the “Auto start” mode and only access the machine via RDP again after reboot and SiteKiosk startup

In regards to your description I assume that you have used the custom start options and started SiteKiosk automatically with the Windows account "Administrator".

To get out I you first should disable the SiteKiosk keyboard lock using the emergency key combinations.
1st key combination
Ctrl left + Shift right + Backspace
2nd key combination
Alt + Shift right + Delete
Pressing these two keyboard combinations one at a time will disable the keyboard lock and allow you to use your keyboard again.
Make sure to press the keys of each combination simultaneously.

Afterwards, you should press CTRL+ALT+DEL and start the Task Manager.
Then launch regedit.exe via Task Manager and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\
Disable automatic logon to Windows by setting the AutoAdminLogon value from 1 to 0.

Next go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Here, you will find the entry SHELL.
Please delete the SiteKiosk entry and replace it with 'explorer.exe'.

Then reboot the system.
At Windows logon screen again disable the SiteKiosk keyboard lock using the emergency key combinations and login to the admin account.

For testing SiteKiosk you then should use the SiteKiosk user (default auto start) or any other Windows account (not the Windows account "Administrator").
