Support Request: Could not recognize the external HDD under the " File & Download Page "

Hi Support ,
This is Angus from Ideal System. Our end user LegCo reported that they found a wired issue in using the SiteKisok Client. Normally, the user will copy and transfer the media from the SiteKiosk Client PC`s File & Download Page to the USB stick. There is no problem with connecting the USB Stick which is running NTFS , exFat or Fat32 format.
However , if the user connect the External HDD ( For example : WDBAGF0010BBL-WESN ) to the SiteKiosk`s Client PC. It could not detect the External HDD in the File & Download Page. If I log out and quit the SiteKiosk application in the said client PC , I saw the client PC could detect and recognize the External HDD without any issue. I had tried to connect the different brands of External HDD ( Portable HDD ) with any file formats( NTFS , exFat , Fat32 ) , it also could not saw the External HDD in the File & Download Page. However , it was running properly in all the USB Sticks.
Could you support please advise how to let the SiteKiosk to display the available storage in under the File and Download Pages ?

Furthermore , if I connect the USB Stick to the Windows OS PC , it will detect the USB as a " USB Drive "type in the properties. If I connect the Extermal HDD to the Windows OS PC , it will detect the External HDD as a " Local Disk " type instead. I am not sure whether that would affect the SiteKiosk Application could not detect the External HDD.

Hello Angus,

Thank you for your inquiry. In general, SiteKiosk Classic Windows will automatically display in the File Manager all drives that are recognized by Windows as removable media. Generally, you can manually add Drives and/or Specific Folders in the File Manager by clicking the Add button and enter the path, like: "C:\", "C:\Users\Public\Documents\", "D:\", "//server01/server files/folder/", etc.

Your users will be able to select the Drive letters you made available to them. Files and folder access are user dependent, and you must be aware of your Windows permissions settings as well. Please let me know if this helped.

Since the former Engineer who follow up with the SiteKiosk already left our company. I am not too familiar with the SiteKisok. I would like to ask for more information for it.

In regard to the captioned issue ,
should I do the configuration in the SiteKiosk server and then apply to all SiteKisok Client PC ? Or I should apply the configuration one by one SiteKiosk Client PC.

Further support may be available to walk you through those settings. You may need to have Support active on the license that you need assistance with. You can email us referencing this post: https://www.sitekiosk.com/contact/

You do have the option to customize one device in Configuration Editor and either Import or simply upload the configuration file to be shared through SiteRemote Jobs. Whichever method you find easier, you can use it as long as the service is available to you.
