Support Request: Start Page URL - Not clearing Chrome cache

Hello,

we have a start page setup with chrome to load a client's website (shaw.ca). there was a price change on their internet plans and we noticed that sometimes when the start page loads, it will show the old prices. it appears to happen when the randomly and we already clear the cache in chrome. and there a specific way to clean the cache for sitekiosk startpage?

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. In general, SiteKiosk does not keep cache at all. You currently have the default settings in Configuration>>Logout (Delete Temporary Internet Files and Delete Cookies). In Configuration>>Screensaver>>Advanced, logout is enabled there. This combination guarantees that SiteKiosk removes previous data after timeout.

You could then maybe update from SiteKiosk 9.8 to more current 9.9.6191: https://www.sitekiosk.com/sitekiosk-classic-windows-version-history/ in a test computer and see. It could be an issue with coding, and you could check with the steps here: https://devblog.provisio.com/post/2017/09/15/Debugging-Webpages-in-the-SiteKiosk-Windows-Chrome-Browser.aspx

Usually, those issues will resolve with using a more updated browser engine. You could also test with another website to see if SiteKiosk will keep the cache.

thank you for the update. i will test this on my side. if we were to get 9.9.6191, would we need to get a new license?

Hello,

Yes, an updated support might be needed depending on the Maintenance End Date on that license. If you are not sure, you can email Sales Team, sales-america(at)sitekiosk.com . However, for testing, a license is not needed and you ignore the license warnings for now.

You don't have to test with your production device, you can use a VM. Please let me know if any of the steps helped.

thanks again, we tried the recommend steps but still having an issue where the webpage is showing the incorrect prices
