Support Request: How to make the Home button return to the Start Screen not to the Start Page

Description

In SiteKiosk for Windows, I made a Start Screen using StartScreen Editor and everything works fine. If I go from the Start Screen to a page, I would like the Home button on the SiteKiosk bar to return to the Start Screen not to the Start Page defined for the browser. How to do it?

Hello,

the Start Screen is a SiteKiosk Skin that is always displayed as main content in the background while the browser windows and external applications open in front of the start screen.
Thus, it is not possible to call the start screen with the home button.

But users can close or minimize the browser window(s) for accessing the Start Screen again.
If necessary you also can hide the home button.
Go to ">Start Page & Browser>[Start Screen]>Customize>Browser Skin>Advanced>Browser Toolbar" and disable the option "Show Home Button".

Thank you for the quick reply. I have disabled the Home button, but then users use the Logout button to return to the Start Screen and it takes longer due to cache clearing. I was looking for a faster method to close all windows and return to the Start Screen. If that's not possible, I'll look for another solution. Thank you.

Hello,

There is no such function in SiteKiosk Classic Windows.

But if you e.g. want that the home button closes the current browser window it is possible with a little customization.
Create a html file with JavaScript code that closes the browser window / tab (window.close()).
Check that the HTML works in a "normal" Browser (e.g. Edge).

Then store that file into "…\SiteKiosk\Html" and then choose that file at ">Start Page & Browser>[Start Screen]>Customize>Browser Skin>Start Page for Browser Windows".

Otherwise you may have a look at our product SiteKiosk Online.
https://www.sitekiosk.com/eu/sitekiosk/
With SiteKiosk Online you can create interactive content as well as display time- and event-driven content.

There is also a "Start Screen" template available in SiteKiosk Online and with SiteKiosk Online you can enable a button in the Task Bar that minimizes all windows.
(Project Editor>Settings>Client>User Interface>Taskbar)

Everything (besides the start-up mode of the client software) is configured on the SiteKiosk Online Server (within the Project(s) that you can publish to the client machines).
Also, the licensing of the client will be done by the server and you don’t need to add any license information at the client anymore.

You can test everything before you purchase a software license.
For a quick view you may simply create a so-called team at https://sitekiosk.online

After creating and logging in to your team, you can create a new project under >Projects, which can then be published to the SiteKiosk Online Client(s), that you have registered to the team.

The client software can be downloaded under >Dashboard>Start or >Dashboard>Downloads.
There is also an online documentation available: https://sitekiosk.online/help/en/Welcome.html

Here an overview and also again a comparison with SiteKiosk Classic:

And here a PDF with more information about SiteKiosk Online:
https://www.sitekiosk.com/wp-content/uploads/sitekiosk-en.pdf
Here you also find some tutorial videos about SiteKiosk Online:
https://www.sitekiosk.com/eu/tutorials/

To display the content on the client, the SiteKiosk Online Client software must be installed on the client device, which also protects the device from direct access by the user.
There is client software for Windows and for Android.
