Support Request: Cannot change keyboard size on MS Surface Pro Windows 8.1

Description

Hi,

Running SiteKiosk 8.9 on MS Surface Pro with Windows 8.1 Industry.

Have modified the Windows_8_Touch.xml according to the documentation to get a sensible sized keyboard in each of the 10 dockrect sections.

<painting resolution-x="2160" resolution-y="1440" color-up="16777215" color-down="0" color-up-alt="8026244" color-down-alt="0" font-family="Segoe UI" font-weight="600" font-size="26" />

The resolution on these devices is 2160x1440.

Restarting with the updated xml file makes no difference to the on screen keyboard size.

Can you advise what I am doing wrong?

Hello,

The max. display size is the size of the original image file for the keyboard (e.g. windows_8_touch_normal_docked.jpg).
Therefore you also need to change the resolution/size of the png files used for the keyboard.

All information about customizing screen keyboards can be found here:

Hi, thank you for your reply.

After resizing the image, it now appears offset and the key letters are all in the centre as if the keyboard was still small.

Do I have to manually recalculate and update all the key positions as well?

Brett

Hello,
sorry my colleague forgot to mention that, but the key positions are dependent on the resolution used in the xml file. They will be scaled down or up (but only up to the original resolution of the keyboard as stated in its xml file to prevent the images from becoming blurry) based on this dependency. If you change the resolution, the key coordinates will change and need to be adjusted.

Hello,
one addendum to the last comment. You may want to use a little trick. If you don't mind the keyboard to become blurry, you can use lower resolutions as the target resolution, e.g. painting resolution-x="1024" resolution-y="768" will blow up the keyboard on screens with bigger resolutions but it will become blurry.
