Just wondered if anyone had successfully used the Zoom meeting app under the restricted user account. The issue I seem to be having it that the application installs deep in the user appdata folder. I can not navigate to there from the allow applications dialogue when configuring the software.

Thank you for you inquiry. We looked at the “Zoom Client for Meetings” (https://zoom.us/download). It is user dependent, meaning if installed on the admin account, you would have install it again in the restricted user account. The standard installation path is as follows (C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Zoom\bin\Zoom.exe) and there are no alternatives provided. Please verify by reviewing the shortcut file properties.

To install and use Zoom in the restricted user, you will need to unprotect the SiteKiosk user account with the System Security Manager application. When tested, it does not work with the SiteKiosk user account in protected status. You can follow the instructions here (please unprotect only): https://www.provisio.com/en-US/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=5826 . This is the only solution for now. Otherwise you can review other browser based solutions like Google Meet, etc.

Thank you for your patience. Here are further steps you can take to give permission to the bin folder containing the Zoom executable. Please note that the SiteKiosk restricted user should be in protected status.

Allow Zoom in SiteKiosk default Auto Start mode:
-Install SiteKiosk

-Download the Zoom installer and then move it to the folder "C:\Users\SiteKiosk".

-Hold the Shift key and right-click then select "Run as different user" the proceed with the installation. When prompted enter user name "SiteKiosk" and password "provisio". Allow the installation to finish.

-Open the SiteKiosk "System Security Manager" from the Windows search bar, select Customize then, click OK.

-Select Folder Access in the menu on the left then go to the folder "C:\Users\SiteKiosk\AppData\Roaming\Zoom\bin\" then click the button labeled "Full Access" with the "bin" folder selected to change permissions for that folder to "Full Access" with a green icon.

-Click OK and then Yes to accept the changes. After it is finished applying the changes, click OK. Afterwards, select the option to "Configure SiteKiosk" and click OK again.

-In the SiteKiosk configuration editor go to >Basic >Applications and then add an application with the path "C:\Users\SiteKiosk\AppData\Roaming\Zoom\bin\zoom.exe". (You will also need to set a SiteKiosk key combo and password to load Auto Start mode if you have not done that.)

-Save and run SiteKiosk in Auto Start mode.

-The first time you open Zoom, it will prompt you for admin credentials to allow it through the Windows firewall. You will also want to check the boxes to automatically connect the audio and camera that are displayed when starting a meeting, so the user does not see those prompts either.

Please note: You will only be able to test Zoom in SiteKiosk Auto Start mode with these settings.
