Reproduction

Unable to reproduce.

Description

Our production kiosks have been stable on the 6.6.213 version of SK Payment Bundle Plus.

Once we upgraded to version 7.1.266, the kiosks fail to automatically restart after the scheduled maintenance reboot (scheduled via SK Config).

The systems shutdown, but often fail to reboot. We never had any issues on the 6.6 platform and no hardware or software has changed other than the SK upgrade.

Hello,

Thank you for providing your SiteKiosk configuration. But within this configuration there is no maintenance setting to reboot the machine. All settings at “-->Management-->Maintenance” are deactivated.

Do you reboot the machine with using another application or Windows functionality?
What exact problem do you have when the machine should restart?
Doesn’t the machine start at all (and turns off) or doesn’t it start completely?

Hi Michael,

Thanks for the quick response! Sorry... we do use the SiteKiosk maintenance setting to execute the daily reboots... we had to remove the reboot setting because of the issue (we are temporarily allowing them to run without reboot and will manually execute as needed, until the problem is resolved).

I am trying to do additional research to see what specifically is happening after the the system shuts down... but we cannot reproduce on our internal kiosks... My IT team is analyzing the kiosks (remotely) to look for clues... I will post any additional info as it is found.

thank you for your feedback.
You might also have a look at the Windows event logs at the particular time when the problem has occurred.
(-->Control Panel-->Administrative Tools-->Event Viewer).

Thank you! I have requested an export of the event logs...

In the meantime, we are seeing unexpected behavior when we initiate the ESCAPE sequence to stop SiteKiosk... the application appears to close and the system returns to the windows desktop... but apparently SiteKiosk is still running... it appears in the running process list and the system is still locked down (i.e. cannot invoke task manager, etc). We believe this may be causing improper shutdowns and impacting proper restarts. Note: This behavior only happens in version 7.1, not 6.6 on the same machine.

Hello,

what web page will be displayed within SiteKiosk before you try to shut down SiteKiosk?
Is there an ActiveX control within this web page?
