Support Request: Printing without print dialog

Description

Hi SiteKiosk Support,

My client, the Museum Arnhem, has purchased a new Windows 10 PC with the latest version of Site Kiosk via Ap-art BV / Diz informatiezuilen. Previously we had a Windows 7 PC running running older version of SiteKiosk.

We use the SiteKiosk system to run an standalone application (.exe). The application is started by SiteKiosk using a launcher webpage in Internet Explorer using the SiteKiosk.ExternalApps.Run command.

In the previous version the user could print a page directly from within the standalone application without any print dialog menus. But in the new version the default print dialog menu of Windows pops up every time a print is initiated. I’ve tried several settings and editing the skcfg file by hand, but with no success.

It’s very important for the use of the application that the user can print directly without the Windows print dialog menu interfering. Can you help me please fix this issue?

All the best,
Ivo van de Grift

Hello,

starting Internet Explorer (or any other browser application) as external application is not supported and a high security risk as SiteKiosk restrictions (e.g. surfing area settings etc.) do not apply.
SiteKiosk has no way to enforce restrictions on the external browser (except for blocking windows with certain titles) because it runs as an external application.

For the browser in SiteKiosk you can just choose the option "Print web page as laid out on screen (without user interaction)" at >Print in the SiteKiosk configuration tool.
You can / should also disable the option "Enable printer monitoring" if you don’t charge for printing.

General notes:
- Local HTML files you want to display in SiteKiosk should be stored at "C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKIosk\Html" to make sure it is accessible within all Windows user accounts (currently you use "C:\Users\Diz\Desktop\..." for the "Launcher.html").
