Support Request: Assign/Connect to a SiteKiosk Online Server Project from a SiteKiosk Online Client

Description

Is there a way to copy project files to a SiteKiosk Online Client or to contact the SiteKiosk Online Server to pull a project to a SiteKiosk Online Client device rather than assigning (pushing) it directly from the SiteKiosk Online Server?

In our organization, we have many kiosk client devices that get replaced with new devices every few years (or for maintenance) and the new devices have different computer names. With SiteKiosk Classic, I was able to auto-register and automate the configuration of each client device without publishing or assigning anything from the SiteRemote Server.

I've been reading through the documentation and forums and haven't yet found a way to automate the configuration of new client devices without manually assigning a project to them from the SiteKiosk Online Server. The ability to automate the configuration of client devices is needed for both the deployment and replacement of devices within our environment without having to manually assign/publish content from the server.

Example:
(1) Create a project in SiteKiosk Online Server
(2) Assign the project to a SiteKiosk Online Client device
(3) Copy the project/configuration files from source device
(4) Modify the configuration (typically Startup website)
(5) Move the project/configuration files to a new target device
(6) Auto-connect the SiteKiosk Online Client configuration with an SiteKiosk Online Server project

Or: After installing SiteKiosk Online Client, are there commands I can send to a SiteKiosk Online Client to connect/auto-assign and pull an existing project configuration from the SiteKiosk Online Server?

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. This is a really good question of transitioning from SiteRemote to SiteKiosk Online. Please note that the main difference is that the entire configuration options is now moved into a project. You can make copies of your projects or use our design templates to start different projects that has different behaviors.

Unfortunately, this is not yet fully possible with automating publishing the projects but is planned for a future version (there is no release date). The following options are currently available:

- You can register the Client manually and replace an existing Client (by selecting the same Client name), then the project is also automatically published on this Client. In this case, however, you must register manually and then activate Auto Start.

- Alternatively, you can install and register automatically, e.g. with script (see "FAQ: Installation parameters for SiteKiosk Online Windows (also for a silent installation)"):

The client's name does not play a role in the automatic registration and the client appears as a new machine on the SiteKiosk Online server (even if the client's name is the same). Next, you have to publish the project manually.

Additionally, newly registered clients appear in the "New Machines" folder by default (as with SiteRemote). Optionally, you can create an XML that automatically moves the new client to a subfolder based on the machine name (as with SiteRemote). Hi Andre, thank you for your response. I already have everything built to automatically uninstall old SiteKiosk versions, install SiteKiosk Online, auto-register and auto-start SiteKiosk online, but I need functionality for projects to automatically assign to clients without specifying the computer name in order to facilitate automated workflows at our organization. If this feature is not currently available in SiteKiosk Online and will not be available within the month, then we will need to discuss swapping the SiteKiosk Online licenses we purchased for SiteKiosk Classic client licenses and an on-premise SiteRemote Server license.
