Support Anfrage: certain PDF files will not display ...

Reproduktion

try to view the attached PDF file when hosted on a web site - that is the best I can provide.

Beschreibung

We have 4 different PDF files that are hosted on one of our Intranet sites that will NOT display in the SIteKiosk browser.

We also have reports of Kiosks that will not display many more PDF files.

Some PDFs will display but there are others that will not.

We are running SiteKiosk 7.8.322 on WIndows 7 (RTM - No Service Pack) with IE8 and Adobe Reader 10.0.1.

Thanks.

There is no known issue with displaying PDF files. Do you get the same behavior in Run Once and in Autostart? If not, and it only works in Run Once, it could be related settings that need to be changed on the SiteKiosk user account. Here are instructions for accessing and changing setttings on the SiteKiosk user: http://www.provisio.com/en-US/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=5826

If it works in IE in the SiteKiosk user account, you could check if it works when you disable the SK Player for PDFs.

To do this:
Open the SiteKiosk configuration file (…\SiteKiosk\Config\YourConfig.skcfg) with an editor like Notepad and deactivate the SiteKiosk player for PDF:
- Search for the line

<filter enabled="true" player="pdf" content="application/pdf" action="2"/>

- Change it to false

<filter enabled="false" player="pdf" content="application/pdf" action="2"/>

I tried your second suggestion (turning off the SK PDF viewer) and now when I attempt to access a PDF document I get an error during the download that says: "An error has occurred. The file could not be copied into the download folder."

This happens on ALL PDFs and is (of course) much worse off than we were originally.

After making modifications to the DOWNLOADMANAGER.XML file, I can now download the PDF files and view them in the default viewer (Adobe Reader).

To me, this means that there is some issue with the built-in SiteKiosk PDF viewer.

Please let me know if I can provide additional information.

In SiteKiosk there is not a built in PDF viewer. SiteKiosk uses the same PDF viewer as IE does (usually Acrobat Reader). The SK player option you disabled just embeds the PDF into an html file to hide the PDF toolbar. That is it.

This can mean that either the default download folder was not used or the SiteKiosk user did not have privileges to the selected download folder.
