Support Anfrage: PDF does not open automatically

Beschreibung

I have two PCs with SiteKiosk Classic with the exact same configuration, but on one PC, PDFs don't open automatically (or maybe it doesn't open in the foreground). I have to click on the file manager and click the "Open" button.
The only difference I notice is that on the "working" one, the PDF file is recognized as such with the correct icon. On the other, there's a white icon, as if it doesn't recognize the file extension.

I open the first PDF and it works, i click open on the second downloaded PDF and Acrobat Reader gives me an "Access Denied", then i click "ok" to close the alert windows and the PDF file opens correctly.

Hello,

In SiteKiosk Classic for Windows, downloaded PDF documents are usually opened automatically in the SiteKiosk browser.

First, please ensure that you have set the download folder under "Startpage & Browser > Customize > Downloads" to the correct location (default C:\Users\Public\Documents\SiteKiosk).
Additionally, under the "File actions" section, make sure that the action for PDF file types is set to "Open in SiteKiosk" with "Autostart" set to "Yes."

If the issue persists, you can check if it works by copying the SiteKiosk Classic configuration file (C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Config\YourConfig.skcfg) from the computer where it functions properly to the one where it does not, and try using it there.

Everything is configured perfectly.
i tried again on the other PC (I thought it was working), but i encountered the same problem. It seems to work sometimes, but for me the problem is that Adobe Reader DC doesn't come to the foreground, and when I click Open in the file manager, it was already open because it displays the PDF very quickly.

Hello,

SiteKiosk has no direct influence on how the external application functions or opens. The Adobe Reader with the PDF file is simply opened by SiteKiosk. For further information, please refer to the following link:
https://www.sitekiosk.com/eu/web/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=25533

Please ensure that the Chrome Browser skin is configured (> Startpage & Browser), as this will keep the SiteKiosk main browser window in the background automatically. Also make sure that you have added Adobe Reader (its EXE file) as an external application to the SiteKiosk configuration. This is the only way to ensure that the application will be closed by SiteKiosk when you do a SiteKiosk logout or when the SiteKiosk session ends.
If necessary, you should be able to bring the Adobe Reader window to the foreground via the taskbar (provided that the taskbar is not disabled in your SiteKiosk configuration).

Alternatively, you may adjust the configuration as described above so that the PDF opens directly in the SiteKiosk browser window and not in Adobe Reader.
