Support Request: Starting SiteKiosk under another user account

Description

Hi,

SiteKiosk was installed and configured under a local user account called 'administrator'

We now have some additional members of staff who have local admin rights to the PCs running SiteKiosk, but who we do NOT want to have the password for the 'administrator' account.

How can we configure SiteKiosk so that ANY of the local admins can start SiteKiosk? At the moment, we can only use the 'administrator' account to start it.

Regards

Hello,

Generally also not admin users (like the local restricted SiteKiosk user account) are able to SiteKiosk.
Only for accessing the SiteKiosk configuration you need to have local administrative rights.

If that doesn’t work you don’t have local admin rights or the local admin group has further restrictions setup by e.g. group policies.

If you want that SiteKiosk starts automatically when a Windows user does log in you can use the customized start settings of SiteKiosk:
E.g. enable the option “Auto start with shell replacement (best protection)” but disable all other options.

Further information you will find here:

Yes I understand, but I have a problem. There is a local admin account, but when they press "Auto Start", the PC does not restart for them. Only the administrator account can make Auto Start work.

Hello,

The SiteKiosk start settings will be stored in the Windows registry and the restart will be initiated with a Windows API call.

Therefore there seems to be any policy set or other application installed on your Windows system preventing that this user can access the registry or reboot the system (is not the case with default Windows local admin account settings).

You should contact your domain administrator to check if the local user account you use is able to access the registry and allowed to restart Windows.
