Support Anfrage: files won't open

Beschreibung

We pushed the latest client 1.10.341 to our machines to fix the startup issue. Since we pushed the new client out the kiosk are unable to open files automatically. It just gets a progress bar going back and forth. changing to the Edge browser option, the files open as expected. Being that we have some kiosk that require for certain web pages to work, this has become problematic. I am wondering have others experienced this with the new client?

Using the edge browser, the web site that used to work (and now doesn't) get a popup window like its going to work, then the window just goes away. The debug windows just says:
EdgeTab X should close.
Closing browser

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. This particular issue is not replicable, and the experience may vary by end user. Not saying users will not have impacts, but it may not be the same for all. If you are seeing any further issues for your user, you can:

- Log into the user after disabling the security settings, navigating to the affected folders and testing them: https://www.sitekiosk.com/web/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=26577

- Perform a Windows scan and image restore (not in the scope of this support)

- Rebuild the SiteKiosk user (expect some custom settings and data will be lost), see Section D: https://www.sitekiosk.com/web/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=26345

Backup current settings:

"C:\Program Files\SiteKiosk Online\SiteKiosk.SystemPatcher.exe" export --path C:\Windows\Temp\exportedSKsettings.sksecure

Delete the user:

"C:\Program Files\SiteKiosk Online\SiteKiosk.SystemPatcher.exe" deleteuser

Create the user and apply default settings:

"C:\Program Files\SiteKiosk Online\SiteKiosk.SystemPatcher.exe" createuser -a

Create the user (by username and password) and apply default settings:

"C:\Program Files\SiteKiosk Online\SiteKiosk.SystemPatcher.exe" createuser -a -u SiteKiosk -p Provisio1996!

Restore custom settings:

"C:\Program Files\SiteKiosk Online\SiteKiosk.SystemPatcher.exe" import --path C:\Windows\Temp\exportedSKsettings.sksecure

Best regards,
Andre.

Thank you for the thoughtful insight and quick response. I will try these steps. I'm not sure if they pertain to our environment but I'll give it a shot.

If you find the issue is not attributed to the SiteKiosk local user but may be related to the project instead, please resend the video to us by email to support-america(at)sitekiosk.com. Error messages can be found in the Monitoring>>Device>>Logfiles>>Calendar>>Export section of the portal, you can include those too.

Best regards,
Andre.

This case is closed. Consider as helpful update.

Both links will open too many windows and tabs and so you will exceed this number easy. In the project, go to Settings>>Advanced>>New Setting >>Path:

system.browser.maxWindowsOrTabs

Set the Value to 50 or 100.

In the project settings, you will need to turn on Allow Downloads in Files and Download. It seems the PDF Viewer or the website forces a file download and so you will see PDF files open in another window after the transitory window.

Next setting is in the "Delete user data (incognito)" setting. It is too powerful, where it can disconnect user sessions between new tabs or windows. This affects Edge (WebView2) the most. Avoid setting it in the Elements or Popups or in the Advanced Settings Path:

system.browser.privateBrowsing

SiteKiosk uses the idle timeout and manually clicked Logout button to delete user data. Plus, Popups (SiteKiosk feature) deletes user data on browser window close.

Best regards,
Andre.
