Support Request: Issue with Chrome Engine

Description

We have Sitekiosk 9.6.4572 on our online public catalog stations. They're setup to use Internet Explorer browser and they are working perfectly. Coming June, we are shifting to a new catalog URL. It tried the new URL with the IE browser and the page launches with message that says IE has been deprecated and use Chrome or Mozilla Firefox browser. I change my Sitekiosk configuration to use Chrome browser then added the new URL to be allowed under Surfing Area. After saving and running Sitekiosk, I get a message box with "SiteKiosk - The surf area filter has blocked the navigation".

This happens also when I tried used the old URL on the Chrome engine. I tried SiteKiosk version 9.7.5324 but I get same results.

I would like to make this work first before purchasing new version/licenses. Attached is my .skcfg and logfile.

Thank you.

Ariel

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. Every new SiteKiosk Classic configuration comes with these default Surfing Area rules. They are needed for some features of Chrome Browser to functon (at least the last three). You can create and test a new configuration file to observe.

Block: file://$(WinDir)\*.ht*
Block: file://$(UserProfile)\*.ht*
Block: file://$(AllUsersProfile)\*Microsoft*\*.ht*
Block: file://$(SiteKioskPath)\*
Allow: file://$(SiteKioskPath)\html\*
Allow: file://$(SiteKioskPath)\skins\public\*
Allow: file://$(SiteKioskPath)\SiteKioskNG\assets\*

You can simply compare the new file and add these to your old configuration file. You can refer to the Surfing Area documentation on wildcard (*) usage here: https://www.sitekiosk.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?surfing_area.htm

The SiteKiosk Chrome Browser will need to be updated by updating SiteKiosk software periodically. An updated license will be needed for future versions. You can read more at our Update FAQ here: https://www.sitekiosk.com/web/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=24834

We now offer SiteKiosk Online: https://www.sitekiosk.com/sitekiosk/#SiteKiosk%20Comparison

Best regards,
Andre.
