Description

Hi
I recently updated our two kiosks to use a handful of static JPEG images for the screensaver (alongside a couple of websites). Ever since I activated this, the kiosk processors (on both units) has started to fluxuate wildly between 0 - 50% usage. This ocurs on both kiosks but I cannot understand why 3 jpegs would cause this to happen. The images are 1280 x 1024. Prior to making this change, the kisk simply showed 3 websites (one with flash) and no problems were noted.
Have you experienced this before?
Kind Regards
Craig

Hello,

will the CPU usage „fluxuate wildly between 0 - 50%” at the same time the screen saver activates?
What is about the CPU usage when opening the JPEGs with using the Internet Explorer on this system (SiteKiosk and also the Screensaver are using the IE Webbrowser Control of the installed Internet Explorer version).

Hi
Its difficult to ascertain as I amusing site remote to diagnose the issue; however I have also noted that Site Remote will not update the config file remotely as I intended to change one kiosk back to not using the Jpegs to see if this made a difference.
Kind Regards

Hello,

>>>Its difficult to ascertain as I amusing site remote to diagnose the issue;<<<
But you need to check it to verify if it really is an issue of the screensaver.
(Generally there is no issue)
You might do it locally with using the Windows Task Manager (with “Run once” mode and deactivating the Windows & Dialog Management of SiteKiosk for testing).

There is no known issue with updating the SiteKiosk configuration via SiteRemote.
But please note that SiteKiosk will load the configuration when the SiteKiosk Browser starts. Therefore the new configuration will only be loaded on the next restart of the SiteKiosk.
(You also can restart SiteKiosk via SiteRemote but you should make sure that the terminal is not in use at this time).

Hi,
The issue has been resolved. Using a combination of static images and then also web images for the causes SK to use an increased amount of CPU time. By reverting to static images only the issue was resolved.
Thanks
