Description

First off, Sitekiosk is an EXCELLENT product. I've been using it to secure public terminals / exhibits since 1999. Currently, its still the secure wrapper of choice, on some of our exhibits.

The Problem:

I have two identical in house kiosk have been running fine for about 2 years. Remote Management is via LANDESK, our corporate standard. Of late, almost every morning, I have found them at the logon state.

- Sitekiosk is set to auto start, WITH shell replacement / limited SITEKIOSK account

- remotely rebooting kiosk once they are in this state, does not produce the fault. The kiosk autostarts, using the limited SITEKIOSK account.

- for the last 2-3 weeks, I'm prompted with a logon dialog when initially checked in the morning. The ID is already populated with the account name 'sitekiosk'. Password is blank.

- it appears that sitekiosk is logged out of the secure limited account

- I have disabled microsoft auto updates, to see if that makes a difference.

- I will have a closer look at the log files, but even if the kiosk reboots, why does it not come up automatically, in the limited sitekiosk account, when it does during my reboot tests.

Is this happening on more than one machines with SiteKiosk installed?

Did you happen to change the SiteKiosk User password using control panel?

How are you starting SiteKiosk?

The best way to assess why the machine is rebooting and taking SiteKiosk out of Auto Start mode is to check the Windows event logs and the SiteKiosk logfiles. There may be a recently installed software or changes to the registry which is causing this to occurr.
