Support Request: Start Screen never loads after logout

Description

Hello,
I have just recently started setting up a new kiosk for our office. I am new to SiteKiosk and learning as I go. I used the Start Screen template (template 1), and cannot get it to reload on a logout action. It just sits on the SiteKiosk Secure Desktop. I have only used the configuration editor to change anything in the configuration file. I have attached 2 different configuration files that I have been testing to see if I could get the Start Screen to load on logout, and neither work. One of them, I left mostly the defaults.

I am using an older Dell OptiPlex 380 with Windows 7 Pro 32bit. It is a fresh install. The only other program I have really added is LogMeIn, which we use for remote support. Let me know if I can provide any further information.
Thank you!

We will release a new version in a few weeks which will address some issue with the new Start Screen start page. In the mean time, I recommend using the Portal start page or a web page as the start page for your kiosk.

Has this been fixed yet?

The release of SiteKiosk 9 has been scheduled for around the end of September.

This still doesn't work after upgrading to 9. I have been extremely disappointed with this software since purchase and have been unable to even use our kiosk due to this issue. You guys do a great job of just blowing it off every time with the same response 'an update is coming soon'. Thank you for nothing!

It seems the issue you are experiencing with the Start Screen start page affects some Windows 7 systems. Since it does not affect all Windows 7 systems, we have not yet determined the cause of the issue. Per the description of the problem, initially I thought the problem that was due to an issue with the Start Screen start template but a fix for that was already released in an earlier version.

As a workaround, you could update the system to Windows 10. The issue does not occur on Windows 8 or 10. Microsoft has offered the update from Windows 7 to Windows 10 for free. That is one possible workaround.

Are you currently using the Portal start page template? The Portal start page also offers the option to create a number of button links to different website like the Start Screen start page template. The issue does with the Portal Page or other browser skins.

Our developers are looking into why that issue occurs on some Windows 7 systems. I will report back to you when I have more information.
