Support Request: Screensaver pops white window "Navigation Canceled" on top of video

Description

Hi, I am trying to use the SiteKiosk Player screensaver. I am pointing it at an .MOV file. When I click "Test," it displays two windows: one looks like a browser window that says "Navigation Canceled" ("Navigation to the web page was canceled"), the other looks like Windows Media Player underneath the Navigation Canceled window and it actually plays the video correctly. I don't know why I am getting the "Navigation Canceled" page on top of the video.

When I save the configuration and let it run, it does not display the video, but rather all I see is a browser window that says "This page cannot be displayed."

You can investigate which specific URL is being blocked in the SiteKiosk log files... This will be indicated wherever you see "Navigation was cancelled" in the SiteKiosk log files.

- You will just need to copy and paste the URL from the logfiles to the "Surfing Area" allowed list in the SiteKiosk configuration tool.

If you need to check the SiteKiosk log files, please follow the below instructions:

- Open your configuration wizard (Start > All Programs > SiteKiosk > Configure SiteKiosk)
- In the tree view on the left, click on "Log Files" (Basic > Log files)
- Click the "Current log file" button.

To activate the log output window to see what's happening on the backend:
- In your configuration wizard, navigate to Basic > LOGFILES
- check "Show output window for testing"
- Start SiteKiosk.

As an alternative you might try embedding your video in html then displaying the html file that will play your video.

Instructions
Download and extract the file below. Open the file WMP_Full_Screen.htm with Notepad and enter the file path to your video in the PARAM tag named FileName. Save the html file you edited and your video file at "C:\Program Files\SiteKiosk\Html". Link to the html file in SiteKiosk. The file is now ready to display your video in full screen mode.

The script file(s) are available for download at the URL(s) below:

I did not see any URLs in the log file. I could see the screensaver being activated and then it deleted temporary internet files, history and cookies, but I did not see any navigation to a URL until the screensaver was deactivated (at which point it navigated successfully back to the Start Page).

I used the HTML you provided to embed the video in a .HTM and then set the SiteKiosk Player to point the .HTM. This works great when I click "Test." Unfortunately, when I let the screensaver activate naturally (idle for 300 seconds), all I get is a black window.

Do you have any idea why it would work for "Test," but display a black window when the screensaver activates normally (after 300 seconds)? Thanks for your help.

Never mind. After playing around with it some more, I discovered that the "Media Type" in SiteKiosk Player was set to "All files." Apparently that causes the "Navigation Canceled" page to pop up when playing a MOV or MP4.

When I set the "Media Type" to "Videos (.avi,.mov,.mpg,.mpeg,.wmv)" the video played successfully.

I thought "Media Type" just changed what type (file extension) was selected in the file picker dialog... it apparently has to be set to the type of file or it won't play correctly. This is a little confusing when you have a choice of "All files" or "Videos." Perhaps a future version of SiteKiosk will set the Media Type automatically based on the file extension. (e.g. if the user picks a file ending in .MOV, then set Media Type to "Videos" automatically)

Thanks for your help.
