Support Request: Web application hangs in kiosk mode

Description

Hello, we are trying to use a lobby management product from FMSi with your application and the web page appears to hang at a loading screen when we are in kiosk mode. when we create the template, and test the url in your application it works fine. it also works fine when logged into windows as the sitekiosk user. it only seems to hang once we get into kiosk mode. the site doesn't appear to run and activex content or flash/silverlight content so we are not sure why its hanging.

Does the same thing happen in Start Once and in Autostart mode? What is the OS and IE version you are testing with? Can you provide a link to the URL for testing?

You mentioned that when you test the page in SiteKiosk it works fine. How are you testing this?

hello, It will hang in both modes, with the security manager set on protected and off. the os in Windows 7 and IE9. Unfortunately the link is internal, and i wont be able to provide a link. we tested the link in the configure site kiosk, start page/broswer, where it's a button that opens the page. that connects, but when i press a button to login on the page thats where it hangs in kiosk mode, but not in the configure mode, or if i login to the workstation as the kiosk account.

Security Manager on/off is not the same thing as testing Start Once or Autostart mode. Did you test it in Start Once after logging in as administrator also? The System Security Manager does not affect Start Once mode.

You can also try compatibility view settings for SiteKiosk to resolve the display issue.

To do this, close the SiteKiosk configuration tool then open your configuration file in Notepad and search for:

<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="true" />

and change it to this:

<ie8-compatibility-view enabled="false" />


Save the file then test in SiteKiosk. SiteKiosk needs to be started twice for the setting to take effect so start SiteKiosk in Start Once mode then close it right after it start and run it in Start Once mode again to test the issue.

I have tried in in Start once, and Auto Start, with no change to the symptoms. I will try the compatibility settings.
