Support Request: Webpage is not active/not in focus after SiteKiosk is started

Description

Hi

I have a .asp webpage that functions as price checker (in retail industry). The device I have has an integrated barcode scanner and when webpage is used in a full screen mode, for example with Internet Explorer, then customer is able to scan item and see its price on the webpage.

I have configured this webpage to be automatically started in SiteKiosk config and start/run it under a restricted SiteKiosk account. When Windows starts, then SiteKiosk is started under a restricted SiteKiosk account and the webpage is opened in Internet Explorer in full screen mode - until that moment everything is good.

Problem is that the webpage that is opened in full screen mode, like stays in the background - meaning it is not "active" or not in "focus". Because of that when item is scanned it does not respond. When I simply touch the screen and scan again, then it works - item is found. Need help with solving this issue. Thanks. Note: when this webpage is opened in full screen only with IE (not using SiteKiosk), then problem does not exist.

Hello,

You may check i fit works when activating the feature “Keep the SiteKiosk main window in the background (not TopMost)” at “-->Start Page & Browser-->Advanced”.

If that doesn’t help you may use a delay (e.g. window.setTimeout) in the code of the start page and set the focus to the web page again.
Maybe the focus on the web page it is overruled by other focusing actions during the SiteKiosk startup.

Hi

Thanks, but unfortunately the SiteKiosk config adjustment did not help ("Keep the SiteKiosk main window in the background (not TopMost)"). Could there be any other setting that could affect this, i.e. changed directly in config file? If not then I will ask webpage developers to check if anything could be impoved in webpage code.

We also have this issue and it's a real bummer.

Is there really no possible was to make this work?

Hello,

the first answer mentions the possibilities you have. Especially the one with an explicit focus after a timeout helps in most cases.
