Support Request: (WM_QUERYENDSESSION). Abnormal program termination expected.

Description

When running for 1st time on new deployment I get this error and it causes my system to crash reboot. I am using a fully updated windows 10 and newest version of SK. I checked my event logs and NOTHING in there is causing my system to shut down. This happens every time I try to launch SK for the 1st time on any machine so this has to be happening on the end of SK since none of my other deployments are running into this problem. Please help

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. You would get that message when Windows is about to shutdown. SiteKiosk posts that log so you know that SiteKiosk is not the one that initiated the shutdown or restart.

Do you know if it happens after certain periods of inactivity? Did you turn off sleep/hibernate for that computer or is it connected to the domain which requires it? You can check your power management settings to ensure the computer stays on all the time.

Do you see any activity on the Event Viewer logs for Application or System? Or are there any Task Scheduler jobs for shutdown or restart after a certain time or event? If it only happens on one computer then it may be a particular Windows setting for that one computer.

Note: SiteKiosk can perform scheduled power management tasks in Configuration>>Maintenance>>"System/Monitor Settings" but it depends on your BIOS and system compatibility to accept them.

This happens with a brand new deployment......SK launches fine for a couple minutes then crashes no matter what you are doing with the software. No power management settings are causing the problem. After the reboot everything works fine, but I do not want to have to do that each and every time I deploy SK. No scheduled tasks or anything like that indicated by event viewer

Hello,

SiteKiosk has a crash prevention system in place. Can you describe step by step what happens after you set Auto Start mode? Do you see the same thing happen in Start Once mode in the admin account?

You have not confirmed the type environment the computer operates in. There are so many factors that can cause this on the Windows side. What about security software like antivirus or antimalware?
