Support Request: Blank Start Screen under Restricted Account

Description

After configuring a new PC, installing and configuring SiteKiosk and testing extensively using the Administrator account AND the locked-down Restricted User Account, the PC was deployed to a public area, and an HP printer was installed. After the HP LaserJet printer was installed, when booting up under the Restricted User Account the Start Page just stays white. When loading SiteKiosk under the Windows Administrator account, the Start Page works normally. Before installing the printer, the Start Page worked perfectly fine under the Restricted User Account.

After further testing, I can confirm that this issue is printer related. After removing the HP printer from the SiteKiosk "Print" configuration page, the Start Screen works fine again under the Restricted User Account. What I don't understand is why this just started with this new install. I have been using this same USB printer with the previous SiteKiosk installation on the old PC for years without issue.

I think I fixed this. For some reason I had to go into the Printer Security settings and give the SiteKiosk Restricted User Account the Modify Documents permission... Not sure why I had to set this manually this time.

Thank you for your inquiry. It did look like what would happen if the Printer Spooler service was stopped or disabled. SiteKiosk Chrome Browser requires it. Please let us know if any more issues develop.
