Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. Since the password is stored encrypted in the startup.xml, it cannot be changed manually. You must create a new startup.xml on the system where you already changed the password (Quick Start Menu>Customized>Export).

General note:
To change the SiteKiosk user's password, the System Security Wizard should be used (>Customized>User Account) - https://www.sitekiosk.com/helpconsole/SiteKiosk%20Help/en-US/default.htm?user_account.htm

or you set it during the installation (https://sitekiosk.com/web/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=476).

Best regards,
Andre.

Is there a command line approach to pass the new password since we have hundreds of PC's.

Hello,

There are command line options available, but it is not to change the password, but to remove and install the user. This may not be worth it because if there are any adjustments needed for that local user then it would be lost.

If you have nothing to lose, you could decide to use this. Steps are:

1. In Command Prompt, navigate to software root folder:

cd %SiteKioskPath%
or
cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk"

2. Remove user (there will be a prompt at the end):

SystemSecurity /uninstall

3. Install local restricted user with designated password, edit password as needed (no prompts after run):

SystemSecurity /install [/user:SiteKiosk /pass:MyPassword12!]

4. Restart the computer then generate a new startup.xml file

Note: Your startup.xml must have the same username, password and configuration file name across your devices.

If it is easier for your organization, you can set a domain user just for SiteKiosk usage. You will be impacted by forced password reset and domain restrictions, so you will have to repeat the startup.xml process all over again sometime later.

Setting Auto Start for another user account:
1. Open the "Start SiteKiosk" application in an admin user.
2. Choose “Customized” in the Quick Start dialog that is displayed.
3. In the “Customized” settings enable the option “Run SiteKiosk automatically at Windows startup (auto start)”
4. Disable “Settings only apply to the restricted SiteKiosk user account”
5. (Optional) Enable/disable "Disable any keyboard input during startup”
6. Enable “Log on automatically at system startup”, then click Settings button beside it.
7. Enter your Username, Password and Domain name and click OK.
8. Click OK and follow instructions to restart the computer or click Export to save your settings and click Cancel to close.

Best regards,
Andre.
