Support Request: File Manager - Error on clicked files

Description

Trying to set up a connection to a network directory with PDFs for our employees to open. I've stored the openfilemanager.html in the Program Files and am able to connect to to it through a start icon. I can see all the files in the directory, but I cannot open one. If I click one of the PDF's I get error message "The requested site could not be loaded. 3735928559 Unexpected Error.
Within the error message it's recommended I reload the page (link provided) or use the Back button. If I click on the link to reload the page, the file opens OK. Does this every time - doesn't allow me to click to open filel, but allows me to access from the error message.
Any idea what's causing the disconnect, not allowing me to open the file from the file manager?
I see "Naverror" in the logs.

Attached configuration file is different from the one provided earlier today as I've switched from Chrome to IE Browser.

I tried adding the same file path (that I have under the File Manager Settings under Files & Downloads) to Surfing area and allowed download URLs, didn't change anything so I took back out.

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. Here is a FAQ post on handling files association with File Manager but I will expound on it a bit more: https://www.sitekiosk.com/web/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=598

File Manager has default properties in how it launches the files being viewed like *.jpg, *.mp4, *.pdf etc. You can edit a file to be launchable like this:

- To choose your preferred Application to open certain files, you will need to change the file type settings in the admin user first (Open With or Windows Systems settings).

- To review the settings for "config.xml" in "C:\Program Files (x86)\SiteKiosk\Skins\Public\Media\FileManager\XML" , a colorful text editor (run as administrator ) like Notepad++ would be helpful. Traditional Notepad is fine.

- Using "Find or CTRL+F", look for "pdf" (PDF opens in browser so this is an example of changing the behavior) and remove it (and the extra comma) from that line:

<extension types="html,htm,pdf,swf,txt,xml,m3u,mov">

- Add the text "pdf," (note: each is separated by a comma) to this line:

<extension types="doc,docx,xls,xlsx,ppt,pptx,pps,ppsx,rtf,sxw,odt,dot,dotx,ods,sxc,odp,sxi,ott,stw,otp,sti" useregistry="true"/>

This line will launch the necessary application based on registry settings for the file type.

-You will need to replicate this file "config.xml" to your other SiteKiosk machines.
(By making any XML changes in this file, you assume all risks for misconfiguration. You can keep a copy of the original file for backup.)

Best regards,
Andre.

Thank you, particularly for expounding. Your description in comment was a different approach and preferred. Working great now.
