From October 24 to 27, 2026, our customer BBN Kassensystem GmbH & Co. KG is presenting a scenario at südback 2026 in Stuttgart that shows how digital age verification with the d-you Wallet can be integrated into a self-service ordering process in the future. For this purpose, we implemented the connection to the wallet with SiteKiosk for the first time in a test environment.
BBN at südback 2026
südback is a trade fair for the bakery and confectionery trades.
BBN is presenting a range of solutions for bakeries and confectioneries in Hall 7 at Booth 7C61, including a use case for digital age verification in self-service.
Age verification with the d-you Wallet
When a customer selects an age-restricted beverage, for example, age verification is requested via the d-you Wallet. Germany’s digital wallet is scheduled to launch in early 2027 and enables data-minimizing verification: instead of disclosing the full ID card, it only confirms that a specific age limit has been reached.
SiteKiosk was used to build the application’s user interface and to configure the connection of various interfaces, including the link to BBN’s POS interface and to the d-you Wallet. Sold-out items are automatically removed from the ordering view. At the same time, kiosk mode restricts access to the intended application.
New opportunities for self-service in retail
Digital age verification directly within the ordering process could simplify the staff checks that are often required today and open up new opportunities for selling age-restricted products in self-service.
BBN’s example shows how digital identity services can be integrated into self-service applications with SiteKiosk in the future. In addition to displaying content, SiteKiosk secures and remotely manages the terminal and connects the required interfaces.
