Support Request: SiteKiosk.exe Error 1026 .NET Runtime error will not launch

Description

Hello.
I am running Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit
CPU Intel i3-6100T 3.20 GHz
4 GB RAM
Internet Explorer 11
Site Kiosk 9.4.7236
Microsoft .NET framework 4.6.1
TrendMicro AntiVirus
Currently logged in as Administrator.... Every time I try and launch "start Sitekiosk" the startup.htm launches. Then it connects to my skcfg file. The SK Quick Start screen appears. I select "Start Once" as I am still configuring the start screen and want to test it. When I click "Start Once" the app launches... I lose my toolbars.... a white screen with a giant lock graphic appears. I immediately recieve the following error window: "Hidden Window: SiteKiosk.Launcher.exe - Application Error: The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occurred in the application at location 0x74fdc54f
It locks up completely. I am unable to close the app. In 90% of the cases I can only shut the computer down hard. I have not successfully launched this app yet. Configuration and other Apps work fine. But the SiteKiosk start page locks every time.

I look into my windows application log file within computer management and I see this error:

Have you turned off or allowed Sitekiosk through your antivirus? Do you have all available windows 7 updates installed? there is also a newer version of .net available as well. (4.6.2).

Hello,
Thank you for the response. All windows updates have been applied. I am going to remove Trend Micro completely and give it another try here in a few. If that does not work I will try the latest .Net. Odd since I downloaded the latest .Net just before I posted this issue. So they must have slipped in an update on me. I will post an update soon.

Thanks again
Michael

Uninstalled Trend Micro. Rebooted. Tried to launch the SiteKiosk. This time no error pop up as before. But sat at a white screen with a lock graphic. Eventually needed to power down hard. Next I downloaded and installed 4.6.2 .NET rebooted. Next Repaired the SiteKiosk Install. Rebooted. Tried to launch site kiosk and had the same issues as prior. I am still receiving the Error 1026 on the SiteKiosk.exe file within the Application Event log in Windows Management as well.

I am breaking out another station to try it there.... any other ideas?

I would try a complete uninstall and reinstall of sitekiosk. go to control panel and then change > remove to completely uninstall sitekiosk. to ensure complete removal you can also delete the registry as well. so type run in the windows search bar and press enter. then type in 'regedit' and navigate to hkeylocalmachine/software/wow6432node/provisio and delete the 'provisio' folder and only that folder. reboot and install sitekiosk again. Make a back up of your configuration to be safe and once the computer reboots run sitekiosk with a fresh configuration or your backed up configuration.

Thank you for the info! Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I took my second kiosk station out of the box. Loaded up the OS. Did not apply any updates. Did not load an antivirus. Windows 7 .net 4.5 I believe. Loaded SiteKiosk9 from a download from the website. Did not register it right away. Did not do any customization of the start page for sitekiosk. Launched it for testing purposes. It launches fine. Next what I am going to do with the one that obviously works is slowly complete certain tasks... like windows update first maybe. Then launch the sitekiosk and see if it broke after. If not I will customize the start screen. Launch it...see if it breaks. Lastly antivirus (add exception for sitekiosk app) launch it see if it breaks. If I figure out where and what breaks the app I will post here.... I will follow your instructs on my first kiosk station that I could never get to launch and send you and update on that progress as well.

Thank you!
Michael
