30 years of PROVISIO

July 7, 2026

An anniversary we celebrated together with our customers, partners, employees, and long-standing companions. Memories and reflections on the evolution of SiteKiosk were at the heart of this event.

An evening surrounded by many companions along the way

30 years of PROVISIO mean 30 years of product development, customer projects, collaborations, and shared experiences. This made it all the more special to celebrate this anniversary with people who have accompanied, shaped, or made our journey possible through their trust over the years.
During personal conversations, we talked about joint projects, earlier versions, specific requirements from practical use, and new ideas for the years ahead. The presentation that accompanied the evening also brought back memories of past designs, product stages, and moments in the company’s history.

From the first idea to SiteKiosk Online

The origin of PROVISIO dates back to a business idea developed during university studies: a digital purchasing advisor for public computers. Over the years, this idea evolved into SiteKiosk, a software solution designed for the secure operation of publicly accessible systems.
Each version introduced new features, new security mechanisms, and new areas of application. What began as protection for a few individual computers became a solution for kiosk systems, self-service terminals, interactive displays, and tablets.
Today, SiteKiosk Online combines protection, centralized management, monitoring, content management, and digital signage on a single platform.

An evolution through numerous versions

A look back shows how much SiteKiosk has evolved alongside the needs of its customers. 30 years ago, the first versions were used in electronics stores to protect public computers for customers and provide product information.

At that time, information terminals were still considered electronic advertising columns and already demonstrated the potential of digital content at the point of sale.
In 2006, SiteKiosk 6.5 introduced, among other things, the transition to Unicode, support for Internet Explorer 7, a new portal-style start page, as well as the System Security Manager.

Around 10 years ago, the CMS, SiteKiosk 10, and the development of SiteRemote became more prominent. Topics such as the task area, reports, and WebSockets show, in retrospect, how ideas and requirements gradually became an integral part of the product.

We sincerely thank all customers, partners, employees, and companions who have accompanied PROVISIO and SiteKiosk over the past 30 years. This anniversary was a wonderful opportunity to look back and, at the same time, exchange ideas about upcoming joint projects.
