.NET Runtime Versions 8 and 9 are end-of-life in November; are there any SiteKiosk dependencies we need to be aware for the client installs?

Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. SiteKiosk Online Windows client as of version 1.11.x comes with the new dependencies for ASP.NET Core and Desktop Runtime 10.0.11 (both x64). You will ONLY be affected if:
- Conducting the installation using the MSI file and need to include the dependencies manually: https://www.sitekiosk.com/web/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=26345
- Your organization requires that you update these regularly outside of the regular SiteKiosk Online update progress. (Our software services depend on these and so must be done manually).
- You have received an error in Windows Event Viewer under Windows Logs >>Application, that an update is needed.

Otherwise, SiteKiosk Online install these as long as you run the installer with the EXE, than with the MSI. You can follow our Version History page for any new releases: https://www.sitekiosk.com/sitekiosk-online-version-history/

You can download or use the link for the General Installer in Dashboard>>Downloads for a silent install update while SiteKiosk is not actively running (email us for details). OR you can go to Control>>Updates to send an update request to your device.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, we don't have to do anything with our existing client installs when the .NET versions 8 and 9 reach their end-of-life in November, is that correct?

That is correct but you really should push an update if your clients are above version 1.4.x under Portal>>Control>>Updates. For clients under version 1.4.x, you must update them via the General Installer. What will happen in a controlled environment are interruptions to services because of outdated .NET versions. Off-domain devices will not receive such an enforcement attempt or we haven't seen such a scenario.

Thank you Andre.

Our client installs are version 1.0.2364 so I was going to download the General installer to get the version updated. However, when I try to download the installer I get a message stating "File wasn't available on site"

Downloads are possible; no issues noted here. Try refreshing your browser (Ctrl+F5) or clearing browser cache. Test possibly outside of your corporate network.
