Support Request: Java problem with Chrome

Description

Hi Support

We have a problem with SiteKiosk using Chrome.
The newest SiteKiosk, v9.3.3836, Java 8 Update 111 & Chrome v55.0.2883.87 is installed on Windows 7 Enterprise x64

When we try to open a webpage in SiteKiosk with Java (tried multiple sites) it's seems the Java is stuck. The loading "Wheel" spins unfinitely.
We tried the "Unprotected" mode in System Security Manager to see if it will open pages with Java, but we have the same error.

Pages with Java opens correctly when SiteKiosk is close. So SiteKiosk must somehow "block" Java from running.

Is there any fix/workaround or patches to our problem?

We have attached a Zip-file with the config & log-files.

Best Regards
Maline

Hello,

The “Unprotected mode” has no influence here,
The “Chrome Browser” Skin of SiteKiosk doesn’t use an installed Chrome browser but a a Chromium CEF Browser Engine that will be installed with SiteKiosk.

Anyway the Java Plugin is not supported anymore by Chrome / Chromium:
https://www.java.com/en/download/faq/chrome.xml

You need to install Java for the Internet Explorer and check that it works in Internet Explorer without displaying any additional dialogs.
For the “Auto Start” mode also check it in IE while logged in as SiteKiosk user (here the description how getting access: https://www.provisio.com/en-GB/CustomerSupportCenter/ArticleDetails.aspx?ArticleID=5826).

Then switch to “Start Screen” under IE based skins.

Hello,

I got the same problem with using the Chrome Browser.
My webpage seems to not be working because Java is somehow ,,blocked".

When using Internet Explorer there is no problem. But sadly using Internet Explorer is not a possilbe long term solution for me.

Is there someway to fix this? Like maybe using an entirely new Browser or somehow ,,unblocking" Java in Chrome?

Best Regards,
Timo

Hello,

this is not a SiteKiosk problem but Java is no longer supported in Chrome browsers. See this official statement on the Java website: https://www.java.com/en/download/help/chrome.html (as already linked in the answer above).

SiteKiosk itself supports the IE and the Chrome browser engine. You may add other browsers as an external program, but be aware that the browser security features of SiteKiosk do not apply to external browser applications.

Hello.

sorry if I ask you to answer again.

The website works completly normal in my Chrome Browser outsite of SiteKiosk. How can that be if Java is no longer supported in both of them?

Hello,

this depends on how old your Chrome browser is, if it is old enough, from before Java is officially no longer supported, then it still would work.
If it is a current Chrome browser, then we are not talking about Java, because that is technically impossible and your problem is something completely different. What is the URL?
